上海沦陷后，大学教授邓庚白因鼓舞学生参加抗战，被特务机关逮捕，下落不明。他的妻子陶静寰三年来到处打听丈夫的下落，费尽心机。他们的长子和女友也暗地参加了抗敌工作。狱中的邓借一只小鸟传信，居然转到了陶手中，她复信，不料却落在敌人手中。日本特务设计假释邓教授却暗中派特务监视。这时邓的儿子雨生也暴露了身分，被三年前出卖邓的叛徒李吕跟踪。邓在抗日地下组织领导人鲁祥的帮助下，将雨生及其女友送往内地。当敌人跟踪而来时，陶静寰也起来与敌人搏斗，击毙了叛徒李吕。邓掩护众人撤走，自己又被敌人抓进监狱。。“For two years starting in 2020, this work has been forming along the edges of disquiet and premonition, in fragments and intensities, through wandering and not-staying.
