影片故事原型取材于苏村阻击战。1941年1月，八路军第115师教导3旅特务3营接到指令，为掩护鲁西军区行署机关的安全转移，将在苏村阻击数倍于己的日本精装部队。最终，包括营长钟铭新在内的126名战士壮烈牺牲，为军区机关和群众的安全转移赢得了宝贵时间，在鲁西抗战史上留下了色彩浓重的一笔。。《天国餐馆》改编自佐佐木伦子的同名喜剧漫画《Heaven》，以一家名为“Loin dlci”的法式餐厅为舞台，讲述了怪人老板和几个被她摆弄的、个性十足的服务员之间的喜剧故事。“Loin dlci”餐厅又名世界的尽头，店如其名，它距离车站、闹市、住宅都很远，而这家餐厅之所以叫“天国餐馆”，是因为它位于坟墓的风景区，旁边就是殡葬社。。Two estranged brothers reunite at their missing father's video store to liquidate the property and sell off his assets. As they dig through the store, they find a VCR board game dubbed 'Beyond The Gates' that holds a connection to their father's disappearance and deadly consequences for anyone who plays it.。
