小村少年端木夜雨，幼时被余烬城的地狱猎兵救过性命。出于对英雄的崇拜，他励志也要成为地狱猎兵。就在夜雨坐上了前往余烬城的大巴车，开始了自己的追梦之旅时，却卷入了一场风波。一场由小人物善举引发的灭城之战，一触即发。。影片圍繞高中生紫英（金藝琳飾）與朋友拍攝「通靈視頻」參賽的故事展開。最初計劃虛構通靈過程，但因好奇心嘗試真實降靈術，最終觸發不可控的恐怖事件。敘事采用「實驗-失控-詛咒」的三段式結構，通過廢棄水箱場景的封閉空間營造壓迫感，逐步揭示「破壞規則」的代價。Like every year, Jim, Ray, Brad and Paul leave the town for a week to go hunting in the woods.
