The film follows the title character (Jonigkeit) as he navigates his search for a moral center, after an act of compassion upends his life. Looking to authority figures he encounters along the way — including his eventual cellmate, Gene (LaBeouf) — Henry’s journey leads him down a road of manipulation and ethical uncertainty.。表演系大四毕业新生谭斯川，阳光帅气，对演艺圈大环境有着初生牛犊的傲气，对所谓的规则嗤之以鼻，只想成为像自己的偶像，人气巨星于畅那样的艺术家。为了实现与于畅搭戏的目标，谭斯川游走各个剧组面试，结实了天真可爱的新人演员金林，并与之产生了暧昧的情感。而与此同时，正在进行的面试让他陷入了一环扣一环，真假虚实的奇特境地。备受打击的同时，他开始思考自己究竟要成为什么样的演员。。
